Thank you for your interest in Etobicoke School of the Arts

Etobicoke School of the Arts was established in September, 1981.  It is a secondary school for talented young people with an enthusiasm for the arts and a desire for a sound academic education.  Students must be prepared to major in one of Dance, Drama, Film, Instrumental Music, Music Theatre or Visual Arts.  In addition, ESA students must have a willingness to develop self‑discipline, an ability to work with others in the pursuit of specific goals, and a commitment to the ideal that art is a vital and creative force in their own lives and the society in which they live.

Students applying to enter ESA require:

a)       successful completion of the current grade

b)       a satisfactory audition

c)       a complete application package to be submitted by Friday December 4, 2009

AUDITIONS

• Auditions will be held on Friday January 22, 2010 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

• Students may audition for a maximum of 2 majors.

• The audition includes an interview, a writing assignment and a performance component.

APPLICANTS CURRENTLY IN GRADE 8

Please submit the following documents as part of your application. All of the documents can be found in the folder entitled "Application Package" in the sidebar on the right.

• 2 copies of the Application for Admission form - signed by the applicant, a parent and the current school principal

• a teacher's recommendation from the applicant's current school (2 copies of the School Referral Form)

• 2 copies of the most recent report card (fall 2009 issue)

• 1 copy of the most recent IEP (Individual Education Plan) for students currently receiving special education support

• a cheque or money order for $25.00 made payable to "Etobicoke School of the Arts - Application Fee"

APPLICANTS CURRENTLY IN GRADES 9, 10 or 11 

Please submit the following documents as part of your application.

• 2 copies of the Application for Admission form - signed by the applicant, a parent and the current school principal

• a teacher's recommendation from the applicant's current school (2 copies of the School Referral Form)

• 2 copies of the most recent report card (fall 2009 issue) 

• 2 copies of a transcript showing any completed high school courses

• 2 copies of a credit counselling summary showing courses the applicant is currently taking

• 1 copy of the most recent IEP (Individual Education Plan) for students currently receiving special education support

• a cheque or money order for $25.00 made payable to "Etobicoke School of the Arts - Application Fee"

Please note that the audition requirements for entry into grades 10 or higher are significantly different than what is required of students entering into grade 9. We presume that applicants to the senior grades will have had experiences that provide them with sufficient background to enter our enriched program at the appropriate grade level. Please carefully review the audition requirements for the major of interest prior to applying.
